William Bryan nominated Melvyn Middleton who has been a Parish Councillor for 36 years and Chairman for 32 years in Nether Langwith. William said, “Melvyn has progressed improvements in the Village over his tenure, which includes the Village Green, The War Memorial, The River Poulter in the form of strengthening its banks and cleaning out of weed, without disturbing the ecology.

“With the Closure of the Local Colliery and the disbandment of various organisations in the adjacent village, he organised to maintain the tradition of the Remembrance Ceremony at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sundays.

"Through the support of Notts County Council and Bassetlaw District Council he arranged for the complete renovation and re-dedication of the War Memorial.”

William continued, "His tenure as Chairman ceased in this year’s local elections but his legacy continues and his involvement as a Parish Councillor also continues.

"There is no doubt in my opinion that the Village is a much improved place in the hands of Mr Middleton."
