Sherwood and Hyson Green Inspector

Canning Circus Inspector

My name is Inspector Riz Khan and I am the neighbourhood policing inspector for the Arboretum, Berridge, Dunkirk & Lenton, Radford & Park and Wollaton East & Lenton Abbey of Nottingham city central areas.

I joined Nottinghamshire Police in 1997, working as a Response officer covering the Clifton, Meadows and West Bridgford areas. I then worked at St Anns and Radford Road areas before joining a specialist role at Headquarters Community Youth and Race Relations department. This role entailed working closely with a wide range of partners tackling crime prevention, reassurance and education and support.

In 2006 I was promoted to Sergeant and took on the response Policing team at Beeston Police Station. During this time I was fortunate to take on periods of Acting Inspector roles in both Demand Management and Neighbourhood Policing which gave me a wider perspective into Policing communities.

I have written and delivered several training programmes and Policy papers around community cohesion and security, both internally, locally and nationally. In October 2009 I represented Nottinghamshire Police at the National NPIA Neighbourhood Policing conference in Leeds.

In 2013, I was promoted to Inspector and took on the role of Response Policing Inspector for the County South Division, moving in 2015 to the City Conurbation area in the same role, covering the whole of the City of Nottingham.

In April 2018, I was delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the City Neighbourhood Policing Team, assigned to working on the Arboretum Area Project, concentrating on the areas around Hyson Green, Radford Road and the Forest. I inherit a good team of officers and staff. My aim is to work with everyone to reduce crime and the fear of crime and its associated areas that cause the community concern. I hope to work closely with the wider community to build trust and confidence and make our area a safe, secure place to live, work and visit.
